The dumpling is one of the most famous and traditional dishes of South Tyrol. At the traditional Dumpling Festival in Sterzing on the 13h of September 2026 the "round dish" will take centre stage.
As one of the most popular events in and around the Fugger City, the Dumpling Festival in Sterzing is the highlight of summer. A wide variety of dumpling creations are served on a long table in the historic town centre in Sterzing's new and old town as well as on the town square: traditional bacon dumplings as well as various mashroom dumplings and sweet dumplings in different variations are on the menu. in addition to culinary delights, musical and acoustic treats will also be presentet on Sunday.
The festival is organized, supported and carried by the Touristic Association Sterzing-Pfitsch-Freienfeld and participating gastronomers.
