The Brenner-Bozen cycling route, part of the famous Munich-Venice cycle route, runs through the municipality of Freienfeld in the South Tyrolean Wipptal.

For the winter there are several ice rinks, toboggan runs and ski touring opportunities. The Rosskopf skiing and hiking area is only a few minutes away from Freienfeld, and the cross-country ski trail in the Pfitsch Valley is easily accessible.
