Maria Callas "Il Tributo"

The magic of grand opera arrives in Vipiteno: On Saturday, 8 August, at 8.30 pm, the concert “Maria Callas – The Homage” will take place in the Vigil Raber Hall. Admission is free while seats are available. The event is dedicated to the most famous opera interpreter of the 20th century.

The evening will be guided musically by Maestro Stefano Giaroli and soprano Renata Campanella, who will take the audience on a journey through some of the most beloved works that made Maria Callas immortal. The concert will be complemented by biographical insights into the life and career of “La Divina”, compiled and narrated by Maestro Stefano Giaroli.

Maria Callas was born on 2 December 1923 in New York to a Greek family. Her full name was Maria Anna Cecilia Sofia Kalogeropoulos. She studied singing in Athens before establishing herself at the most prestigious opera houses in Italy and around the world. With her extraordinary voice and incomparable stage presence, she revolutionised opera interpretation by combining the highest vocal quality with intense dramatic expression. Known as “La Divina”, Maria Callas brought dramatic interpretation back to the centre of opera and transformed every role she performed into a vivid and deeply moving character. Although her career was relatively short, she left an indelible mark on music history and became a timeless icon.

The event is organised by the Associazione L'Orizzonte in collaboration with UPAD, the Centro Studi e Ricerche Palladio and the Comitato di Educazione Permanente di Vipiteno, with the support of the Autonomous Region of Trentino–South Tyrol and the Municipality of Vipiteno.

The concert aims to honour Maria Callas’ extraordinary artistic legacy through music, storytelling and remembrance, offering the audience an evening of great cultural and emotional intensity – dedicated to one of the most significant figures in the history of opera.
